Alex Tritten, 2002 Kite Surfing Champion

You will be taught by Alex Tritten, the 2002 British Kitesurfing champion, or one of the BKSA/IKO instructors with years of experience in teaching Kitesurfing.

Groups of more than 4 pupils are given a reduction of 10%. We also cater for corporate groups, birthday parties, stag nights etc.

FKS, since 2001. Right when the first inflatable kites were introduced to the UK, Alex was there flying them with Dave at Funsport. No choice at the time, they learnt the worst possible way, on their own. It took months of cursing, bruises, damaged equipment until they were able to do it! Now it is widely acclaimed that Kitesurfing is a safe sport to learn if it is done in proper surroundings and supervision. It is easier to learn than windsurfing for example, because we can separate the kite flying experience from the board riding experience, before putting it all together. There are two ways you can learn: one on one with an instructor, you will progress fast and every single mistake you make will be noted immediately. In a group of up to four per instructor, you will be paired in a buddy system and learn from others' mistakes as well, with a little less hands on time. Both have proved effective in their own way!

Light Wind Equipment
In 2006, FKS adopted a new formula based on successful tests at other BKSA schools around the country. We purchased new light wind equipment and a bigger safety watercraft, which enables us to guarantee at least one day out of your booked starter day course. If the wind doesn't allow the flying of water based kites, we will go straight to developing your board skills behind our powerboat, as the water start is exactly the same as if you had a kite in your hands!
So whatever happens, you walk away with a basic knowledge of power kites and your board skills honed, ready to put them together on the water next day!
